Crunchy bits of voodoo blues mixed with soft, chewy morsels of alternative rock and country.
Based in the Portland area, Richie Bean is a seasoned singer-songwriter and guitarist with over 35 years of performing experience. His unique style, “crunchy bits of voodoo blues mixed with soft, chewy morsels of alternative rock and country”, captures a raw, authentic sound that invites comparison to legends like Neil Young and John Fogerty.
Born near Reno, Nevada, Richie began playing guitar at age 14 and quickly began gigging at local venues. After relocating to Portland, he made his mark as lead guitarist for the Hudson Rocket Band, semi-finalists at the 2000 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, mcmenamins.com. He later formed several bands, including the King Juju Trio and the Catillacs, performing wide-ranging music across blues, rock, and top‑40 classics and sharing stages with artists like Walter Trout and Three Dog Night, mcmenamins.com.
Although known for his dynamic live act and covers, Richie also writes, records, and releases his own music. His song catalog includes original works, available on platforms like SoundCloud and Amazon Music, where tracks such as Small Town Is Gone, Doughnut Man, and Ballad of the Crows have resonated with listeners.
Richie’s excellence has been recognized with awards like the GrIndie Award for his CD “Meow Mix” and nominations such as a Muddy Award for Best New Band with Hudson Rocket. He is also a member of the Portland Songwriter Association.

Whether you’re looking for a soulful solo act, an engaging acoustic duo, or a nostalgic rock ensemble, Richie Bean delivers with heart and authenticity.
